Can you salvage a skunk after he has sprayed. I caught one on a dog proof set today and thought a lung shot would work. Well it didn’t but id like to be able to save the hide of I can. Anyone have a solution.

Just skin it and flesh it. Smell doesn't last that long. And it has nothing to do with what price you get for it. I've put up hundreds of skunks and never washed one because of smell. Road kill, trapped, shot, dog killed... You name it.
Been plenty of threads on here about washing them. I just thought everyone's trap shed smelled like essence a little just like every convention and rendezvous
Make sure you learn how to save the essence also. If not your throwing away as much as the pelt is worth.

Thanks. Actually had a good rain this evening and to be honest the smell has dissipated a lot. Should be able to salvage him.
