Every year I run hagz pole sets with a carrot and some lennons on top of pole. Works great. Problem is I get coon in them. Set in standing water 2 to 3 foot deep and still get them. Anyone else got that problem?

It's common around here to catch them on floats too. A lot of people say to just run a carrot and the rate will go down, so no lure. Raccoons love muskrat lure.

Yep. Unless you can get deep into a marsh where the coon will have to swim out a long, long ways to get out to it, raccoons are a problem. People underestimate the willingness of a racoon to swim.

Use a 150 or 159 BG and they may spring them but you won't hold a coon for long. He will use his feet if he can to reach the carrot. Season is closed on them but I get a few mink with this method (different fastener) just about everywhere so I must be careful where I use this in the month of March. February is the MMM (Mink Movement Month) for me and continues into the first 2 weeks of March here so if the water is open your carrot and lure should be a winner set!!!! My experience. .......................The mike

Never have gotten coon but last found out beaver like apples also. They took everything. I know it was beaver because he was hung up in the cat tails but got untangled before I got to him.
