left my little home town of oquawka ill. last week and drove to venice la. and back. 2100 miles had a few side stops and saw some neat stuff. the civil war battlefield at vicks burg was very interesting. left there and traveled on rt.27 to angle down and get back on i55. hands down the most filthy disgusting section of road i have ever been on!!!the trash and garbage in both ditches was unreal. went down to new orleans and determined thats no place for this country boy! the museum ww2 was great. the french quarter not so much. elbow to elbowbodies no parking. didnt realize mardi gras started the next day. the drive on down to venice was o.k. didnt know about all the oil stuff that happens down there.. stopped over nite in memphis on the return trip went to beale st. ate ribs n oysters. last stop was memphis net and twine for a load of webbing for net building and then raced for home fast as the little truck would go.. my ole bod aint made for travel like that! felt like i had been beat with a club. my urge to "get out of the house" has been met!!

New Orleans is for younger folks that stay up all night. Also loud and smells bad. I enjoy the food and music but I need to go to bed about 11pm. They are just getting started at my bedtime.

i get a lot of supplies to build with from them. this time i got to put faces with names. kinda neat

i would have enjoyed it more had i been more familiar with the navigation part. stress level has a lot to do with having a good time. plus the big party was starting the next day

Yep exit 227 on I-55. We left IL and moved down here about 12 years ago or so.
