I did an update last night on the original thread!

Looks like it needs a little more scrunching. Is it soft and pliable?

It is kinda soft. I put more oil on it and I’ll work it some more!

Ah, I see now. That’s membrane that should have been cleaned up prior to the pickle bath. During the degreasing prior to pickling, scraping with a wire brunch will peel that off.

I got some peeled off with my fingers.

Still salvageable.

Get a shovel handle and fold the pelt over it where it goes from clean to gunky. Hit it with the wire brush. You might get lucky and it peels off.

Since nobody else has said anything those tanning beds promote skin cancer.

Don’t worry, I never used one because I’m convinced of the urban legend that my contacts will melt in my eyes if I go into one while wearing them

Take a knife and cut a small piece off the edge. If it is white all the way through, I would wet it and start the scrunching/breaking step again.
