water snakes seem to not mind cold as much
I was at the river one fall , it was an evening late October , it was around 50 and it had been below freezing nights a few times already we get frost about Oct 1-7 most years and it is a probably about 1 in 3 years have had some snow by Halloween

No cottonmouths here, but I made the decision to grab a big watersnake once, needless to say it wasn't happy, lol

2 years ago I flipped over a rock and there was a rattlesnake under it... That was a little disturbing.
