Have you run into any red elm I’ve come across what I believe is and about 100 of them. Red elm turns beautifully on a lathe and smells really good. We made some very pretty sock darners and spindles with red elm. We have red elms scattered throughout my area. Keith

Helps a lot if you show the bark! Standing dead will hold water a LOOOONG time and cause spalting that can confuse the issue.
