Bought stuff from two dealers same afternoon at a state convention my uncle took me to back when I was in high school, early 1980s.
Bought some stuff from Ludy Sheda (me too, 160user!), and also bought some stuff from Roger Belhovy at Turkey Creek First.
Ludy was a quite a character, and I will never forget him or the goofy hat he had on with all the pins in it. I laughed at his jokes and he set me up with a pile of wood coyote stretchers and some used Monty square and some round jaw #2s. I remember getting home later and he had a note in between the stretchers that read thanks kid for the laughs today and hope you fill these stretchers for many seasons kiddo. I won’t ever forget that.
I bought bait that same day from Roger and a huge bag of Andy Stoe’s cover hulls.
If I recall correctly I think Roger talked me into some used #2 northwoods longsprings and a bundle of rebar stakes he just traded someone else for that day at the convention. I think he talked me into a pile of northwoods square coils too, and a half gallon of fox pee. It was about all the money I had to my name but wow what a cool purchase.
I just remember that was first year I felt like I had all the stuff to finally really focus on coyotes and go get em. Looking back it really was a great pile of stuff.
Had a ball that first season. Thank you Ludy and Roger for a long, long time full of memories.
Of course coyotes tanked that first couple seasons and I sold finished ones for like a $4 average which is still better than I got today but I put a lot of work into that first batch of coyotes and remember the sting of the low avg on finished dogs.
