Did they give you orders for cardio rehab?
When my dad had his carotid bypass they put him into a cardio rehab program for a few months.

Consider yourself lucky... it wasn't your time...Do what the Drs say and hopefully be around a long time. One thing is for sure ...everyday there are guys.. and gals that never felt bad a day in their life and suddenly drop over dead from a heart attack. Good thing you took the warning seriously. I thought I was invincible and needed no heart doctor..... but the Good Lord kinda made me see I needed to get to one pronto. I had 1 artery pretty much blocked. A couple stents and I can walk briskly and never need to stop for air. Hopefully I have a few more years... but without those stents I was a time bomb waiting to drop one last time. Good Luck !!

From the sound of things I would think you are lucky to being alive, I hope you have a speedy recovery.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Thanks again everyone for the well wishes and advice. I had it done about 3 years ago. Now I need a pig valve put in but haven't been back for thet yet, Have more trouble with my legs now. Be glad when the snow goes away so I can get around better. Good luck to you. Hope to be working on the sawmill soon be 76 in June. Larry That is confidence-inspiring Larry. I'm very much looking forward to getting back to work. Best wishes for a successful valve procedure. Will that be open-heart or robotics?

Them taking the tubes out and feeling like (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) for the first few hours after I got home. just The tubes were the worst. Having them in there made any movement very painful even though I was on Fentanyl and Oxycontin at the time. I thought they'd give me a shot of Fentanyl to yank them but they didn't. Doc came in, "Deep breath in, now out" and they were gone one at a time. It wasn't that bad and my recovery proceeded by leaps and bounds after they were gone. My wife bought me a power lift recliner which is where I've been spending my nights. It's okay but I miss my bed. I was able to get about four hours shut-eye in my bed early this morning. My best night since I got home. Wife and I did a lap around my property yesterday, that felt good.

Lugnut you're giving me confidence Went in for Roto-Root and stents 2 weeks ago They ran the dye, looked at the images and quit The dye is hard on the kidneys and would of had to go on dialysis A new heart surgeon says at least a 4 way before mid -March Still testing to see what they have to work with Thanks for your success story! My roto-root went the same way. It was interesting though. I was awake and watching them drive around inside my arteries with the camera probe. the dye was interesting as well, the warmth created from it allowed me to pretty much trace my circulatory route around my body. Yeah, they use the dye sparingly, it's hard on your body. They sent me for all the scans and tests the day I was in for the angioplasty. Got ll that out of the way. It made for a long day in the hospital. Best wishes for great results with your surgery. I had convinced myself that it was quite possible to end up in the 1% that don't make it through this. I put my affairs in order, updated my will, etc. and also took care of stuff around the property that I knew I wouldn't be able to post-op. Move when they tell you to. My first day out of ICU they had me walking down the hall on the ward. The chest tubes were still in and they were painful. I shuffled along with a walker like a frail old man but I did it. Next day the tubes came out and I was doing laps around the ward unaided by any walking device. I'm guessing your going to be fine. If your like me, you'll be looking forward to the physical therapy so you can see what the new pipes will do for you, see the improvements they are bound to make.

From what I see you post on here you’re an active person. That should help you. Good luck in your recovery. I enjoy your posts. I am very active, always have been. And I generally eat clean too. I've been low-carb, no-salt, no processed foods, low saturated fats for decades. So I wanted to know why I had clogged arteries. Turns out it's mostly genetic. It comes from my dad's side. He had bypass surgery back in 95. He told me afterwards he felt twenty-years younger. No cholesterol, issues on my mom's side. The docs, nurses and techs were all complimenting me on my speedy recovery. That might just be their job but from what I saw, many of the patients were frail, elderly people. I was ready to go home on day four but they kept me (unnecessarily) for an extra day.

Some forms of medicine have come a long way since most of us on here were born. 50 years ago almost anyone in the same situation could have been looking at taking a dirt nap.
After rehab, no more bench presses. Correct! LOL
