do you have all nice strait grain wood?
for a lot less money a better pump and bigger motor will speed up your cycle time if you already have a splitter that works.
you can get it down to around 8-10 seconds , then the trick is work fast enough the ram never stops moving as the ram is retracting you have the wood in place ready to split again before it gets back the 16-18 inches most rams travel 20-24 don't let it waste time going all the way back have the next peice of wood in place ready to go forward as soon as it drops in.
if you have strait grained wood and stuff you only need to split 1-3 times like 8 inch diameter wood the kinetic will take it for speed. but if you wrestle 18+ inch rounds on or curly grain wood or knots. it isn't the tool for the job.

if you are running like an 8-12gpm pump and you jump up to a 22-28gpm pump you could get a lot better cycle speed but you need more HP to turn it
a 28gpm pump for about 275 and a 16hp predator for about 375 more you would be about 650 in and have a much faster cycle and power to split some curly knotty stuff
that would be top end you could probably get very reasonable for less.

And they are not as noisy too. But as stated above chose your wood for them

I split the big stuff my splitter is hydraulic and slow but it spits stuff that piles up quickly so it’s worth it. My boiler door is 20X20 it takes a large hunk of wood or several large pieces. The auto return valve speeds things up while I’m clearing the work area after splitting.

I have a super slit, kinetic splitter. It is very fast cycle. The person positioning the block , should also trip the lever in my experience. I have split some big stuff, just have to use common sense. It can make 3 guys sweat . one bringing blocks, one splitting and one taking the wood away. I bought mine used, honda engine , did a bit of mantenence , Quite happy with it . parts are available from a family owned company, in Maine. There are lots of videos on line , of them operating. They are fairly expensive, if you are doing any quantity of wood, probably worth it, Have a look old 243
