furbearer season is over in Kansas, but coyote, raccoon, and opossum season is year round. So I'm still trying to get some coyotes (no success on coyotes yet). Yesterday evening we got a bobcat, and this morning we got up early and released it.

Here's some videos uploaded to a google drive.

I had removed a packrat nest with the tractor, and dumped the nest on the side of a mowed trail. I thought the packrat smell and pile would be an interesting thing for critters to investigate. A branch extended into the trail, creating a point that would influince footsteps. So I put a duke 550 right at the point of that branch, and rubbed some bait on the underside of the branch. The cat had the branches moved around by the time we got there, and the pack rat nest pushed away.

No injury at all, after release she wasn't favoring a paw. Just a very sour attitude and no appreciation for letting her go.

Oh, and for me, this morning WAS FUN!!!!

Looks like a tom. And a dandy. Reset next year and you likely will catch it again.

I was going to ask if you guys could tell. We think the primary resident is a female. She had kittens on the property a couple years ago. They were fun to watch on camera. But the male has been on our property before. We have a trailcam video from valintines day years ago when they were flirting with each other (one walked by and the other pounced - they weren't mating, but they weren't fighting either). So we definately have both male & female, but its hard for us to tell them apart.

@newhouse114, I don't think I'm a manly enough man to release one of those by myself. They tell us Kansas doesn't have a population of lions. The sightings here are just a few individuals passing through from time to time. I'm sure that's true, because the government wouldn't tell us anything that isn't true. But in the very unlikely event I get one, I think I'll call the state and ask if they want it.
