I'm pretty sure I'm going to finally get a 9mm pistol, I've always ran revolvers before.... curious as to what type, and weight ammo you pistoleros use? primarily as a defensive round... Lot of opinions in searches I've done.
Any types or recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks

get some cheap ammo for practice, then some premium defense fodder for business.

your barrel length makes a difference on ammo you should use. Some premium self defense ammo will not expand out of the short barrel small 9mms. Was a perfect example of this when a friend of a friend had a seld defense shooting. one of the bullets was found after passing through laying in the yard and it did not expand at all. That opend up a long thread on that forum about testing ammo out of your small 9mm.

Hard to beat a 124 grain hydroshok for carry ammo.

My .9mm likes the same thing Trapper Bill uses. I also will use the Hornady Critic Duty in about every caliber.

Hornady is great stuff to. I hear they are real nasty if you remove the plastic tip

Winchester back box (formerly white box) hollow points for defensive ammo here. It's cheap and gets the job done. Critical defense wouldn't run in my Taurus gx4. He little plastic tip would hang up on its way into the chamber, and banging on the back of the slide would just knock the bullet back into the case.

What ver you use for defensive ammo, shoot a bunch to make sure it runs in your gun. Winchester and Remington both make cheap generic hollow points.
