I'm 12 days out from my surgery. So far, it's been a piece of cake.
I had a spinal tap, and I thought I would be completely out, but I could hear everything that was going on. I could hear the grinder revving up or maybe It was a saw. LOl Not good.
Pt has been pretty simple. I'm already at 100 degs bending my knee. And 1 percent from having my leg straight.
I'm still using my walker to get around, but they have me using a cane at PT and I'm pretty good with It. Exercises are a hourly thing but it's needs to be done.
I have about 12 post op exercises that I do 2 times a day. I did those same exercises post op and was up to 60 reps per exercise. I think that got me way a head of the game after surgery.

Taking a shower is a bit tough since we have a tub. The neighbor lady offered me the use of her walk in. I've done some 100yard walks outside with the walker and I made it up and down the cellar steps once. But my PT people told me not to push It.

Had some bruising and some swelling but that's pretty much gone. My surgeon told me about how much pain I was going to endure. He was wrong never had what I would call bad pain.

So far things are going well.

Good to hear Beav. That range of motion seems to be a hang up for some in recovery. I think guys like us who are used to pushing through a bit of pain and physical challenge seem to heal a bit better than other folk.

Beav,
I'm 12 twelve days out today too. I've still got a lot of swelling, I think thats holding me back some on my recovery. I made it to one degree from straight also, if I remenber right I made it to 112 degrees of flex. Sounds about the same for me as well as you. I only used the walker about 1 1/2 days. I used a cane till day 8 now I don't use a cane. I have full weight bearing but up and down stairs suck. Going up is easier than going down. Good luck to you on your recovery.

Good to hear Beav, Letan if not as often, ice all you can as for the swelling for some it takes longer. Beav, when I had my first one done, they started the saw, according tot eh doctor and the nurse, my head snapped to the side and I asked: " are we building treestands?" the nurse said everyone was like get him under. LOL Do not remember any of it.

Good to hear Beav, soon you will be running a marathon.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

You did the right thing with the pre exercises, I had bilateral knees done 2 years ago now, did the pre op exercises and a lot of post op ones at home in-between PT sessions...lots of ice is your friend!
I had a lot of swelling that I had to push through but had complete flex very quickly, I was released to work in 7 weeks. They say walking is good post op, I didn't do as much as that as maybe I should. I just climbed back in the boat and started hauling pots, lol

Keep doing what your doing, by week 4 most of it will just be a memory..LOL

Glad to hear you are on the mend Beav. I am looking at some knee work in the near future I am told. Trying to hold off as long as possible.

For some recovery has been tough from what I hear. Others say it wasn't all that bad. The ones who don't keep up with the exercises seem to be the ones who complain about how rough recovery was. The ones who do all the exercises are the ones like yourself who say it wasn't nearly as tough as they were told it could be. Sounds like you are in that second group. Glad to hear you're doing so well.

My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.
