Does any organization use any type of computer generated draw where every member gets a number drawn for them each sale? We’re looking at ways to make it more fair with less complaining. Seems no matter what you do some aren’t happy. Everyone can’t get an ideal number every year.

You can't please all of the people all of the time regardless of the topic.

I have nothing clever to put here.

A lot depends on what type of sale it is. Open auction v sealed bid. Plus lots of other factors.

If you have an open auction, you want to be early in the sale in case buyers run out of money or if they fill their orders.

Sealed bid is different. Years ago, both Nevada ad Oregon had 3 day sales. New batch of fur each day. When the market is strong, trappers wanted to be on day 3 because prices would improve each day.

Each sale needs to figure out what works for them.

How we do ours in Ohio currently...life members get to get lot numbers at the convention. Early bird signups for general membership is at the three fall region meets. Call ins for lot numbers start in December.

Automated could be a bit of a mess because of how long the auction can go. We start selling a 9 and the last hammer was around 5pm with 80 lots signed up. Had several scratch offs/no shows so closer to 60 all told.
