Not long long ago you'd have a hard time getting $800 for it around here. Now you could ask $2500 and probably get it pretty quick .Some goofballs around here would probably be willing to pay 4 or $5000.

I may have missed this but which engine is in it? Six cylinder or V8? If V8 which one? I had a 73,76,78 and an 81. The 81 had a 305 V8 which did not work vey good for me, not much power. The others had the 350 and they were pretty good.

if it was 2wd 2500 3k because it is 4x4 and manual and in such nice shape I would offer 4500 and see if he will take it , if you have the cash

I don't think most of you know the market for square body Chevrolets. Assuming it is a 350 and the frame is good it's worth every penny of 5K. Could get more around here easily.

Knowing and trusting the guy is worth a lot in itself. I'd bet he has a little wiggle room in the price.

find a 4x4 truck that you can do work with , that you can turn the key and drive for sub 5K , around here you have to wonder if there is enough left of a frame to not go over a bump and stay together

or it will be a 3 valve ford 5.4 04-2010 that still needs plugs with >150K on it if it is only mildly rusty

Thanks for all the great advice. Going to out of town a few days but if still there I will look it over and make a decision.

Its pretty common to find 1996 -2015 4x4 chevy half tons in good shape for $4000 to $6500 . More power, better towing, fuel economy, smoother ride, etc than square bodies. $2500 tops on that truck pictured.

350 in it. The frame is good nothing close to falling apart going over a bump. He talked about that and like I said this guy is top notch and a straight shoot. I still would take a good look at it.

And just what is a new engine? Rebuilt by some local? remanufactured by one of those companies that advertise on TV? Certainly not a new crate engine.......jk

If not for that rear fender well spot, it really isn't that bad. The box inside doesn't have a dent in it and looks really good. For a 47 year old pickup it isn't all that bad. I could use it the ranch for a year or two and sell it and mostly make some money on it.

Typical rust on that vintage Chevy is above the rear wheel ! If they don’t have that rust , they tend to be pretty sound.
