I agree....the prices listed are very high. Can still walk in the local meat market and get fresh ground hamburg for $4 lb, cheaper when on sale. Whole ribeyes cut to your liking for $6.99 lb.

Just my wife and I, we don't eat near as much meat as we used to. We go through 1/2 A BEEF, 1/2 a hog an elk. And a deer or two

Pure carnivore diet is generally 1-2# of meat a day per person. Makes a bit simpler.

Only thing cheaper meat wise is hamburger from a store. 7.30 lb is average. Plus no comparison for flavor. Best tasting burger I have ever ate is from show Walters. I never liked sirloin until I got a beef from them

I would start looking for supermarket sales of pork, think hams, pork chops, pork butt, etc. You can probably fill the freezer for less than $2/lb and with almost no fuss.
Gives some nice variety in your menu choices too.

My German shepherd got a pork butt today. I finished and went out to work on the garage roof and before my wife made it back in the kitchen to put it up he knocked the pan in the floor.

Not a bad idea to watch for some sells now.

OP, how many mouths are you feeding anyway?
7 deer x 70#, that's 490 pounds of deer meat in 6 or 7 months.

Normally 1 adult moose, 1-2 deer, lots of walleye, small game grouse and rabbits and enough beaver for 3-4 dinners per month. Mix in some chicken for variety. This feeds myself my wife and 4 growing boys.

My wife, myself and our 7 children (6 boys 1 girl) go through 6 deer, 1 whole cow, 2- 200# pigs, endless chickens and cottontails, and a whole whack of fish. With the price of food being what it is up here in Canada I’m going to start eating kit beavers as well.

I thought I ate a lot of meat but I guess not compared to most. I eat 1 deer or at the most 2 a year and buy quite a bit of pork, some beef and chicken at the store. I need to get back on low carb but I still didn't eat as much meat as you folks do when I was doing it. I buy quite a few brats and smoked sausage loops when it's on sale.
