Re hydrated two of the muskrats that Hobbes sent me. I believe the consensus is no salting needed before the pickle if they致e been fleshed and dried but I wanna be sure. Once I take the membrane off it is fine to go straight to the pickling stage correct? Thanks everyone

If they're been air dried you don't need to salt them

Pickle them for a few days then flesh them. It will be easier and less likely that that they will slip hair. Pickling tightens the hair follicles.

Yes that what tanning methods that doesn't include a pickling method are always looked at poorly. Which is why many prefer to skip rehydration and go straight to the pickle. You can add a bactericide in then rehydration bath if you want to have a separate bath.

Also pickling when done right the skin should plump up making it easier to shave done the hide and protect the hair follicles.
