Wish to make a few coyote stretchers. Realize the “narrow nose” will yield a little longer pelt but have heard the buyer will notice therefore no advantage? Does it make any difference?

I think the buyers are partial to a stretcher with what I think they call a Bottleneck nose. They make the coyote look good and it probably gives them an extra inch or so

If you have the board length, you can cut & file a bottleneck into your existing boards without purchasing new ones.

Which “bottleneck” do you prefer? What I call the “Canadian bottleneck” on the left, the “Stefanick bottleneck” in the middle, and the regular “NAFA board” on the right used as comparison.

The one in the middle, that resembles the stretchers that Otis makes.

I prefer the "nafa style board" over the wiley coyotey looking stretchers. My opinion a much cleaner, uniform appearance. Over the years of selling coyotes at the Fallon sale in Nevada I am at sale average or slightly above.

i agree i have always sold too FHA and all my boards meet there specs if your trying to gain length by adding it in the face the graders will see it and knock you down a size anyways your better off leaving shorter which causes a thicker looking hide

Back in the NAFA day, a fella from Winnipeg who I believe worked for NAFA advised me not to use the “Canadian board” and stick with either of the other two.
