Piddling around it the garage today. The post about lure being old or most stinky got me thinking. So I moved couple things blew the dust of these to gems. No date on jar lids, but I know they are at least 20 years old? Maybe 25?? Im really not sure.
The jar on the left is what a carp looks like after setting in the summer sun. Then tucked away for all these years in garage. It was not a whole carp was scaled and head and fins cut off.
Jar on the right is what was left of sun rendered skunk fat. Being both jars have been in my garage all this time. They have cycled threw summer heat and winter cold. The jars do have vents that allow them to breath out but not in.
I have not had either jar open since the first year I put them together.
So I have no idea what the carp smells like? Pretty good idea of what the skunk grease should smell like.
I'm in no rush to open them now ..

The one on the left reminds me of Neapolitan ice cream

Dumped out a bin of coyote bait I had been fermenting. Held my breath and backed away as soon as I opened the lid. Still got hit by a wave of stink that was palpable. I'm scared of those jars.

Oh crap, I have a jar of something in my shed. Don't even remember what it is. Haven't chased fur in 10 years. Bet it stinks.

I would guess they are both mild and some what sweet smelling. Probably good stuff.
