Got a family trip planned to the NASCAR show in Kansas City. What else should I be planning while we’re there?

The “You Are Now Leaving KC” is about the best I’ve seen there.

Whatever you like to do in a city you can do in kc. I never could tell one city from another except for size. If it were me I would go to Lake Perry when the race was over.

I'd agree with that. The streets are a mess of potholes and construction. The Arabia Steamboat Museum is the best thing in town. 200 steamboats sank in the Missouri River between St Louis and Omaha.

You will enjoy the track itself. Nice facility and good racing.

Cabelas is right next to track. Jazz restaraunt also right there and very good cajun/italian and one of the BBQ places in same area too - can't remember if Gates or Joes or another. The National Agriculture Museum at Bonner Springs is about 3 minutes away and VERY Good. After that I would leave unless you want another bbq restaurant

Everything I mentioned is within 5 minutes of the track - plan at least 4 hours at Ag Museum.

Yeah…much as I hate to say it. Back in the 80’s, Can’t believe I used to ride my bike to school going down Quindaro

I prefer Gates BBQ - love the large party platter for a family meal - good stuff

They have a neat WWI museum there as well, I enjoyed it

Ww1 museum is great! People have listed stuff out by the racetrack. Mom and pop bbq Wyandotte bbq is close to the track and Go Chicken Go has amazing livers and gizzards. The steamboat Arabia museum is really good as mentioned

Just south of KCMO is a cemetery where Carrie Nation and James Carnegie are both buried.
East of KCMO in Independence MO, Jim Bridger is buried. Don't stop in Independence for anything else unless you're packing heat.
