You are getting after those wolves! How did you miss the wolverine? Are they pulling the 330's out of the way? I had a wise one do that to me several times before I finally got him.

Just doing what I want now.

Nice!

Give an illegal alien a fish and he eats for a day. Deport him and you never have to feed him ever again!

The wolves sure are thick in your area. Hope you get #20! That first one is a nice light one.

Bronco we do have a lots but we have figured out are line is runs the boundary line of several packs actually 4 different packs visit some spots on are line 120 miles . The Info from collared ones we have caught over the years and the biologist sharing the information of there home ranges The hardest part of catching so many skinning and boarding them all . At end of year you are burnt but I love the challenge.

Wolves need to eat. They usually hang where prey does too. Do you think those packs stay dedicated to their area year after year? Are there bou in the area that help keep the wolves there too?
Was out at Medicine lake last week. Looked like we were a week late in seeing bou there. Did see the largest wolf print I've ever seen. His stride was every bit as long as a big bull bou.
Good luck on #20!

I have found that where the territory of 2 or more packs slightly overlap is one of the all-time best places to have a few urine post sets!

Amen to that! I find myself setting less and less wolf traps in hopes of catching fewer. So far it's working !

Nice wolves team v. I agree with Pete. When I first started trapping my current line the boundary was the river my cabin is in. Every time they came through the area they would freshen up every single pee post. Caught some big males when I started using urine from a local dog musher friend of mine. Female in heat urine drove them crazy that year

Well it is done traps are pulled and preparing for next year . We set out with a goal of 20 wolves and here is #
20. Also took my youngest on the big line for the first time so it was a good run . Had to make him work a little. Time to get ready to hammer some bears . [Linked Image]

Hard to tell in the pics. Is that an above average size wolf? Probably not the one who made the tracks I saw at the lake? Need to kill that moose killing guy!!

Was pretty big . The boy is 5,8 and 180 . Probably not the one you seen . That track came from crazy pack this one is from windy pack . Crazy only comes through about once a year and last year we took 3 when they came through. Small pack only about 6 to 8 last year . Windy 2 year’s ago was 17 and Yukon was 22 but we hammered them looking to be 6 to 8 left in packs now. We also pull from mammoth pack witch seems to hover around 6 . The problem is when they get big packs like 15 or more they will eat a hole moose in one sitting I have ran line on Saturday come back through on Sunday and they have killed a moose on line and it was gone in one night . I feel like it is up to us (trappers and hunters) to help manage are wild life . Fish and game and me have gone round and round about the way my area is managed there should be way more game and there is not . This year every legal bear that comes in to bait is getting smoked. My plan is to create a area with not lots of predators so some calves can live . The pic tells it all them are baby moose hoves . If it does not work then oh well it was fun trying. I am working with other trappers trying and get them more knowledgeable to help them start thinning there areas. Me and my partner have become pretty good at what we do and if I can pass some on to new trappers I am all a for it . Have a new trapper friend I have help working back side of the windy pack just got his first wolf .
I just ran with some trappers that have been trying for a few years to get a wolf but none. I help put out a bunch of sets and a lot of training there checking theres today waiting to here if the got anything. [Linked Image]
