If a person bought 20,000 in gold coins in 2020 how much is it worth today?

Warren Buffett style value investing is great, and also what I'd recommend to anyone just getting into investing, or investing NOW for the future, which is what you are doing! I do it too!

But, someone asking how to time the market, does not in any way indicate that they're not watching the markets, or that they will not in the future. I know this, as I was once one of those people. I agree that it's impossible for anyone to "time the market" as in knowing where the bottom, or top is..... but people time the market every day, and make... or lose... a lot of money in doing so via options and futures.

In case you haven't noticed, not many on here support or defend you. And I ain't a waitress, or bartender. I'm three classes away from having my Bachelor's in finance. But carry on... I'm sure all of tman is waiting with bated breath for your next snippet of financial advice.

So you just agreed with everything I said. Proving my point. And typically for an over 30 woman thinking your degree you don't yet have means anything. So are going to school pat on the back. Maybe take some classes on taxes along with that finance degree. Pss I don't have a basement but seems like you have some sort of a fetishist or obsession about my wife being tied up.

So do you like jute, hemp or cotton rope. Each has its advantages and disadvantages depending on task.

I agreed with some of what you said, but not nearly all of it.

I prefer Jute.... but it's certainly never something you'll ever need to concern yourself over.

If you don't wanna look like a total idiot, learn how to spell Nvidia. I bet you pronounce it "niv-id-ia" too.

Seems like a good deal to run an economy into the ground and buy up the competition. No insider trading needed or allowed, the market simply tanked overall.

I can skin a possum. Not even sure what a track loader is though. I can run a tractor, and a forklift though, does that count?

Actually you may have an advantage to running a tractor and a forklift. Women think with both sides of their brain, a man can only think with one brain at a time, lol.

With all the advancements in AI and robotics

The world 5 years from now is going to look very different from today,,,,huge opportunities!!!

Wouldn’t be surprising if the market continued lower short term

Sticking with my prediction of uncertainty for the next 6 months,,,

I could have got in in January. Wouldn't it be better not to get in when it is flat or dropping. Why take the short term loss?

P.S. That money is currently making money and will be a bigger pot when I invest it in the market in the future.

It wasn't hindsight. It was a deliberate move to make more money. It seems to be working?

Of course it is. Had the market taken off in February, it may have been a bad decision. You don't know if a investment decision is good or bad until time passes. And, an investment may look good now, but look terrible in the future...or vice versa.

Here's some words from someone that knows a thing or 2 about investing:
Warren Buffett famously discourages market timing, emphasizing that "time in the market beats market timing" and that focusing on long-term value investing is more effective than trying to predict short-term market fluctuations.

Good luck with your investments!

Why does everybody think people investing in the market are long term investors? Not a long term investor. There are patterns. Why would I ignore an obvious pattern? I didn't predict the fall, I saw the flat performance. That was enough. The drop just makes it a luckier decision.

One more time. I'm not a long term investor. I may not have 5 years to recover losses.

P.S. If the market would have taken off in February, I would have invested and caught the wave. That is the pattern I'm looking for.
