I’m in the city so I can’t hear them but I remember vividly when I lived in Smithfield. I had a small pond there too and we would get little toads a lot.

Very nice.Can't wait untill spring here and hear the peepers.Pond out back is still frozen over.

Means the Northerns are in the creeks !

Yea they have been going nuts all week here. Driving at dusk tonight my windshield was getting bug splatted.

I heard chippers today also between here and Omaha. Also saw two buzzards today. Back for the summer.

I was up at the farm yesterday evening and they were so loud in the lake I would have gotten ear plugs if I was not just walking fron the barn to the truck to load some 2x4s and there for a minute or two. I never rem them being so loud I was turning my head becus they hurt my ears. And my hearing is very bad so that says something.

Theyve been going off for a a few week here. If youre close to a pond it does get loud

One of my favorite sounds, none here yet in Michigan. Maybe tonight, high of 74 today !

The wood frogs are in my pond now and making a lot of noise on the warmer days. They are the first frogs to arrive every year in late winter/early spring. They come from a good distance away to occupy my pond for 3-4 weeks and then disappear back into the woods. Interesting factoid about wood frogs; they can freeze solid with no damage to their cells.

The spring peepers are next, everybody knows what they sound like. They have a much higher pitched croak than the wood frogs.

When the peepers leave the green frogs and bull frogs claim the pond as their own and fill it with thousands of tadpoles.

By early summer the gray tree frogs arrive and start their nightly choruses. It never fails that at least one picks the tree outside my bedroom window to sing from.

Nice to hear

The only noise the frogs are making here are there teeth banging together cause they are chattering so bad.
