I've used bent steel coat hangers to locate underground electrical and water waste lines. Never tried witching for water but I'm sure you can.

My dad and grandpa could both do it. They used a steel bar or a number 9 wire. Dad did several irrigation wells and surface wells. Never had a dry hole and could hit the depth pretty close. It never worked for me. I don't know if it has to do with body chemistry or what.

I can locate ditch lines with a piece of copper wire. I've had people call BS until I have them put their hand on the wire while I'm doing it

I've never tried finding water ,but have found several water lines and tile lines. I had a friend with a broken tile and asked how do you find it for sure , I said I could try witching it ,he thought I was nuts . So I bend two wires and they crossed about where thought it should be, of course he figured I manipulated them, so I had him try it and when they crossed in his hands he about dropped them in amazement.

I know a guy who guessed the correct sex on human babies 19/19 times in a row before the baby was born. Everyone was wondering what is secret was or how he knew, he's been wrong the last 4 times.

I'm not sayin, I'm just saying.

I never believed it until a friend put two bent brazing rods in my hand, blindfolded me, and allowed me to walk down his gravel driveway. The rods turned inward as I walked over a buried iron sewer line.

I was a little skeptical until I saw an old 85 year old guy douse for water on our farm. He held the dried willow fork with his palms upwards. He also had rheumatoid arthritis which meant he always had a partially clinched fist. After he found his spot he had me try it. Nothing. Then he had me hold one side while held the other and asked me to hold it as tight as i could. When we got to the marked spot that dried willow twisted down and I couldn't hold it back. He told me there was 50 gallons at 90 ft. Ended up within a few gallons and feet of being that.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

A couple of guys here could do it with copper wire or willow branches, one guy if he had probelms he would take his shoes off, claimed it helped, I have no idea, the idea of the welding rods and tig wire is interesting, does the type matter like 6011 vs 7018 or do they all do it equally.

Finding electric line and water I have many times using two bent #6 SD Copper wire. Of course, when you find the power lie it is hand digging to find it first before any backhoe is used.

I never used either 11 or 18 welding electrodes but I always thought the copper shielding on the tig wire along with the length gave me an edge but other than my thoughts, I can’t prove it!

I can. I've witched lots of wells, I can tell pretty close to how deep and how many gallons per minute. I can find water lines as long as water is running through it and under ground power lines. I use 2 brass rods. My grandfather witched 100s of wells, people would come from all over to get him to find a well
