25 beavers and 7 otters sold to GFWC yesterday.

Both beavs and otters skint & frozen.

Beaver avg = $13 and change....all in (Just under a 40% decrease compared to last year.)

Otter avg = $19 and change...all in.

Not a big sample to base off of. But, it's all I have been able to capture by hobbling around thru these swamps with painful knees.

Sold 5 of my largest beaver a few weeks ago to a guy to tan for $25/each...which those 5 brings the average up to $15 for 30 deep South frozen beaver pelts.

Southern bcats have re-adjusted downward from past couple years. Had 1 XXL shot in February (thermal night hunting) that brought $40 (put up). But, to be fair...even though that kitty was big....his belly was narrow and somewhat casty. I'm not sure what the top $$ is for a good southern bcat as I was the last seller there yesterday with a cat. Others had already sold some but I didn't hear prices.

I'm glad folks pay for trapping services down here.

Didn’t even set a beaver trap this season and left my cats in the freezer for the year. I had a feeling beavers would be down

Only thing about holding back is demand/prices might keep going lower.

Yeah Jackie.....skint and frozen southern beaver in the teens is still better than most years we've been thru.

I'm still on a self-imposed break for my knees. Got therapy again this coming Monday. I've also got 3 nuisance sites I'd like to remove a few beavs from b4 these warm temps get much higher.

Sell em!, you can't make pets out of em.
Plus what does it cost to run your freezers for a year?

I agree. They're gone.

But, freezers not too bad to run...if ya don't open that lid often.

I will shut those 2 off and open the lids soon. Have one small freezer full of beaver tails. Got about 12 plus lbs of castor and about that many oil sacs in that one too. But I think I'll hang onto those for a while longer.

I'm glad you can find some humor in your situation. Working through the pain sucks, but its better than surrendering to the couch. Sometimes when a guy does that he never gets going again!
Hopefully modern medicine can make those knees (nearly) new again.

TD1,
Having to go to therapy for a few weeks so BC&BS insurance will hopefully approve my MRI. They denied the MRi about a month ago. Dang insurance companies deciding what a person needs is ridiculous.

Once orthopedic doc gets those images he will likely proceed to endoscopically clean out around the meniscus. And he says he is going to change the joint fluid too. All this strung out over the next few months when it could've already been done.

I hope all that fixes them. Currently, kneeling down onto either knee cap is a no-go.

If my knees hadn't let me down I probably would've had 3 times that many beavs and otters. Didn’t trap much in December...and none in January. Tried to play catch up in February...but the knees wouldn't fully cooperate...lol

I also back down stairs and slopes. I would rather fall on my face , than land on my back. Getting less mobile sucks, but it;s better than the alternitive. old 243

I just heard of some pretty good averages at GFWC's Aiken, SC stop. Anybody on here there today?
