Carl something I keep forgetting to ask.
Do those nutes make good bait for your bobcat line also?

Not as good as last year when I caught 300 beaver. Now... to skin the last beavers for K. Falls and harvest some of the meat to grind into burger. smile

That's a really impressive average on the beaver. At least to me, I'm not very good at beaver trapping.

Eh...wot?

Yep time for a new motor. I want another Yamaha short shaft. I've had 4 stroke Hondas, Yamahas, and Suzuki but my fav was the Yamaha 15hp.

Yeah, Lug, one of my idiosyncrasies is paying attention to catch percentages. My catch % would have been more impressive if I included the non targets like coons and nutes and otters.

Turtle, nutria will work as draw bait for cats but not as good as beaver. Beaver has the advantage of having several days worth of eating for a cat with their average carcass weight being around 35-40 lbs. Nutria average carcass weight 8-12 lbs. SO I often throw out a nute carcass with a beaver. Cats will feed on both and then cover for later.

Thanks for the kind words from many!

You would be more than welcome too. Over the years I've probably had at least 5-6 Trapperman ride alongs. One time I had "Magoo" along and caught so many beaver that day I had to leave him on the side of the river to get my catch to the landing and go back for him. LOL .... Was going upstream and couldn't make headway.

Yeah, Magoo was a kick for sure. Kind of a leather jacket motorcycle gang member type but had got interested in trapping. After many years of not hearing from him he called me a couple months back just to say hello. He's not trapping anymore and wanted to maybe sell me back some traps I sold him 11-12 years ago.

He kinda made me promise I would. Little bit of didn't want to suffer the "snipe hunting" story there.
