Pictured are two bobcats I caught yesterday. The one on the right was harassed by a cougar. As I was walking down an old logging road to check the cage, I heard some growling and some commotion. I never saw anything but when I got to the trap it was pulled out of place and cougar tracks about. I had set the trap alongside of a windfall, so the back was against the uproot part of the windfall. The trunk of the windfall was a little higher than the trap was tall. A fir tree was on the other side of the trap. Kind of a nice hole that fit the trap. I had wired the trap to a small limb on the fir tree.
Trap was pulled over the windfall, broke the limb the trap was tied to, and the trap was standing on end. Like I say cougar tracks in the dirt from the uproot. Bobcat was not happy, but I got there before he suffered any damage. If not for the cage I doubt, there would have been much left.

One other thing and it is not easy to see but the cat has white toes on its back feet. Not sure I ever saw that before.

Nice HT!

Never seen a white-toed cat either.

Glad that bcat was in that cage.

THat's a great story. White toes should make it worth a little more in taxidermy I would think.

How long does your season go in Washington?

Sounds like you lucked out! I got one this year with white toes on one foot. Also had another one across the valley on camera with both back feet white.

Plenty of lynx have white toes on more than one foot.

There is an area here where I catch cats quite commonly with white toes, caught one about ten years ago there with four white feet like those low heel socks kids wear now days. Can't recall I ever seen one on the coast with white toes though.
