For the grandson to deer hunt from in a new cutover. Will set a hanging stand low into the birch tree which is sitting high over the lower part of the cutover perfectly with the prominent new winds that we get.

I have spent a fair share of time hanging on the side of a tree in my deer stand in going on 50 years of deer I think in my next life I may be a squirrel Or may be I was one in my last life Or most likely I am just squirely To answer your question about that location being good spot to deer hunt I would say yes But the only real way to be sure is hang a stand and hunt it a few times Even if you hunt there a few days with out any success it looks like a great spot as far as being a scenic location great So deer or no deer it would not be a waste of time

You are going to miss running those dogs in and around cover like that Bruce. Lots of potential sqatting spots in cover like that. Our cottontails would thrive in that kind of cover if you had them.

What really helps is knowing theres deer using that area for years. Was always to thick to see a deer there. What a great spot now to rattle and call now.The way they cut it was perfect for deer hunting.

I sure will but am some excited to get away from the winters now that I'm older and get to trap some of them desert bobcats.A person has to make sacrifices sometimes.

Pics must be very deceiving. A deer down here wouldn’t think of getting in that and even in my prime I wouldn’t shoot a deer in that if one decided to cross it, lol. I see nothing but limbs and trees down everywhere. Looks like a tornado went through it. Our clear cuts looks mighty clean compared to that mess. It must not be as bad as it looks in the pics.

That’s funny. I was just thinking how clean it looked compared to many around me

It is amazing how our deer get into that mess and weave thru it, feed, hide and bed in it unseen. It is in many cases very difficult to get a few men to make their way thru it in an attempt to spook some out to other hunters. Most times it is the younger more agile hunters that are tasked to do that job for us older fellas.

But after a few drives like that, they are reluctant to serve again for the group without pressure to do it again. smile

that's beautiful hope he appreciates the work you put into finding and making the spot for him

New growth should make for a lot of deer browse. Nice open area.

It's been months since I bought the book, "How To Scam People On Line". It still hasn't arrived yet.

Yes and being close to a bedding area also really helps the spot.
