I need to buy a new UTV for our home on the Kenai. Anyone have sound suggestions for a solid, two seat high quality but not totally loaded UTV? I walked into the dealership and they have both Can-Am and Polaris. Naturally my old 2010 Ranger was pretty nice when I bought it and I told the salesman that I wanted a stout machine with a few add-ons, roof, windshield, doors, bumpers. He took me to a Polaris Ranger XD 1500 that was sitting on the floor and as I admired it the sticker almost made my wife pass out. 40K+ for a toy. don't think I want to go quite that much for something that's gonna get bloodied, banged, and driven on a salty beach. Anyone have or had something they really liked that would be great for this purpose?

The Honda pioneers are pretty sweet. They're convertible from 2 to 4 seats, the roof covers the cargo area, and they have an actual transmission instead of belt drive

I've had great results so far with our Honda Pioneer 700.

We’ve got 3 Can am defenders at work and the guys are ROUGH on them. Theyve been very reliable for what we put them through on the farm. As far as I know we’ve replaced a drive belt on one and had some front end work done on another but that’s it. They’re workhorses. If i ever upgrade from our 4 wheeler, it’ll be with a defender

I own a CFMoto and it has been awesome. Way cheaper than the others also. Polaris has Major vibrations that I don’t like and everything rattles. Can ams are nice rigs also.

I have not looked in a few years but thought the Honda 700 pioneer that converts to 4 seats was the best value at under 15k at the time. But that was when everyone was having supply problems and I never bought one and just made do with my old gator TX.

A lot of people here like Polaris, there's a lot of John Deere ones also but I'm not sure if they make them or if they're just a rebranded version of someone else's.

It now has a top, windshield, and Max 4 Duro seat covers, and LineX bed liner. You get what you pay for . . . and you never see a U-Haul-IT following a hearse :-)

They build the Gators in WI but use a Chery engine made in China, they are also governed to 40-45 mph. Some Kawasaki mules used the Chery engine also, don’t know if they still do.

Crazy money anymore for those. Other options are worth looking at if they can fit the bill.

X2, except they are cheaper than new side by sides, (they are sold as a UTV to get around regs, but are basically a diesel CJ) and you will get a lot more miles on them. Much stouter built than the other options.

Or you could just find yourself an old Samuri or even an early 80s Toyota, they are making so many of the new side by sides so big there isn't any difference in size.

Thanks for all the input here! Sounds like everybody has their own favorite. I'd like to stick to made in U.S.A. and narrow, two seat with a cab and roof. As indestructible as possible.

we tried out the Polaris expedition and ranger premium and Can-Am defenders ended up going with a the can am
DefenderI feel like if you don’t need AC and all the bells and whistles, you can get them fairly decent price
