Good advice BUT let me add...after skinning the beaver lay the tails out for bit say three days. This lets the tail bleed out and semi-dry up. Then throw them into the freezer. Right before shipping them...take them out and place them on some newspaper over night to soak up and moisture box the up and ship.

I can't believe the co is gonna cut tails off everyone's beaver

Our county's beaver bounty program is run by our county conservation department. They in fact do cut the tails off of the beavers that are turned in for bounty.

In addition to what was mentioned, we also have to provide proof the beaver was trapped in our county by showing a cellphone photo of the beaver in the trap that includes the approximate location and date the photo was taken for each animal. The trapper must also have a valid Iowa Furbearer Trapping License. The tail must be attached to the beaver(s). After that, we provide the landowner's name and address (if trapping on private property) and phone number. We also have to sign an affidavit of sorts, stating that the beavers were taken legally and in accordance with the rules of the bounty program.

Wow. All that's missing is passing a lie detector test and criminal background check.

Maybe it has something to do with those who will go to any length to cheat or lie in order to get something for nothing.

It's a great program if you play by the rules.

Yes, that is the sad part, that all those rules are necessary to run a good program. The sad reality I guess.

You mean to tell me a beaver bounty is worth that much that people will go to any length to cheat it?
