My brother in law just bought a new log cabin. He ordered new log beds and didn’t order finished ones. So I was elected to stain/ finish and assemble them.
Step one. Get out the torch and burn finish them. Got one done last night. 78 no wind so polyurethane goes on today.

The rifle has no will of its own it may be used for evil but there are more good men than evil men and evil will be corrected by good men with rifles.

I have a king size log bed made of juniper. My wife hates it, our house is somewhat mid century modern and she says it doesn’t match. Maybe I should hang some long springs off the corners, that might help make things match.

Does the scorching of the wood serve a purpose other than cosmetic?

Another good thing about burning is sanding is not required. It burns all ruff spots smooth

When I first got mine I had just went thru a divorce after 22 years. Seen one for sale and got to talking with the guy, he had built it and was going on a mission trip or something. He had enough material to build a king size so I had him do it. Once done I set it up and put several coats of Helmsman varnish on it. Once in a while for a while I would have a grub come out of the wood, normally in the worst time possible, kinda startle some new gals I had met. Bedbugs are bad even if they are just grubs.
