For all you shooting buffs what can you recommend to use for a all weather shooting backer. What our Sportsman’s Club is looking for is we have some move able "H" stands that we use on our pistol range. We have stapled sheets of cardboard on them for folks to staple or tack their targets to, but after a few rains the cardboard falls apart. Plywood splinters too much. What have some of you had luck with?

The old school backer used to be homosote, no idea if they even make it anymore.

Coroplast Sheets

AKA yard signs , election signs

we have a seed dealer that is a member so he brings the old signs and we screw them up with pan head screws , just keep re-using the screws to put up new sheets

you can staple to them well

check with sign makers you can often buy blemished sheets or miss prints for less

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I did have one guy tell me they used mud flaps at his range , they are sort of self healing for a while

My gun club and a camp I frequent both have heavy 3/8" or thicker EPDM (rubber) mats they use for backers. They are about 3' x 3' and heavy. Like the mud flaps GCP mentioned, they are self-healing for a long while.

I don't know where they get them.

Eh...wot?

We like the black rubber livestock mats. Typically 4x8 and you can cut them to the size you need.

The rifle has no will of its own it may be used for evil but there are more good men than evil men and evil will be corrected by good men with rifles.

Haven't seen the mud flat thing but should work..Range I shoot on has I believe old rubber conveyor belt? Might even be the rubber cow mats?
Everything gets shot up eventually. Theses rubber mats or belt seem to be less of and issue from what I seen.
I use the political yard signs for myself especially for patterning shotgun. But usually toss them when done. Wouldn't think they hold up to well for actual range use.

Around here the county picks up signs that are in the right o way, you can go to there office and around back is a pile of the political and real estate signs. They make good target holders.
