I figured I'd try using cast iron today to cook breakfast. Rhonda had three of them tucked away. She is worried about the bad things she's learned about non-stick skillets and wants to use cast iron now. I chose the biggest one she had. I like my eggs fried and she likes hers poached. So, when I got mine done, I put hot water in the skillet and brought it up to near boil and dropped her egg in. I didn't feel a poached egg is picture worthy - lol.

That's a nice pan, I have a bunch but miss daisy can't lift them very well so I switched to a carbon steel pan, cooks about the same as cast with half the weight...

Think I'll go make some eggs now ,lol

I would eat that Paul. I am just about ready to make my breakfast. The wife wanted a burger for breakfast so I got her fed, now its my turn.

I am still using a non stick pan. I don't like my eggs to stick if i can help it.

I used to have a two or three egg omelet with cottage or feta cheese on cast iron every morning. Since heart surgery I have one every other morning. I also quit using butter in the pan and now use olive oil. The wife got me a nifty little sprayer that works really well for putting a thin, even coating of olive oil in the pan prior to frying.

I love eggs!

Eh...wot?

I just had 3 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast. I also use nonstick skillet (not pan) and cooking spray. Also have some nifty little teflon rings that surround the egg and keeps them from spreading across the whole skillet. I bake bacon on parchment paper in the oven one pound at a time ahead of time so it's ready in 30 seconds in the microwave. Poached eggs don't work for me either. I've spat out better looking globs of stuff after clearing my throat.....

That's a good looking pan Boss.
When wife and I were first married. She complained about my cast being to heavy. Didnt like it. She bought a set of the none stick crap. Over the years i kept working on her. I think I finally have her almost fully converted to cast pans WearEver pots. She even got herself small cast iron Wok. Go figure.

You keep frying your bacon in that pan. Clean it right. It will be as good that no stick crap.

nice looking breakfast and good call on the cast iron as opposed to non-stick pans . . you should tell her to research microwaves now; we got rid of ours about 4 years ago

Just made corned beef hash this morning with leftovers from Monday using cast iron, the part I like with cast iron is it can go into a really hot oven and not have a problem.

My wife won't let me get one, she's afraid I'll drop a hot pan and break her glass top stove.

My best cast iron skillet was my parents' favorite. Been eating from it all my life and lord knows how long they had it.
They were married in 1945, and it was used when given to them.
