Are they not invasive in your state? I wouldn’t intentionally plant them if so. A terrible tree to get started in your area if you don’t already have it. I burn a lot of it for firewood and enjoy the berries, but if I could get rid of them all, I would in a heartbeat

Sadly, 10 yrs trying to establish cuttings or volunteer seedlings has not wintered more than one season at our N central hobby orchard. They grow and fruit like weeds around our Mpls home.

Doing the same thing 330. There is not better fruit IMO.

As far as invasive, I dunno. They do sucker but nothing like Buckthorn. Very rare to see any kind of stand of mulberry here. It appears southern MN is the northern boundaries of what they will tolerate so I'm guessing our winters knock them back. Buckthorn on the other hand is a real mess here, with thorns. Mulberry trees are real easy to get through, soft wood and easy to thin if need be.

Mulberry trees grow like weeds here, to the point of being a nuisance. I let a few survive but would be overrun with them if I didn't keep them cut.

For being invasive they at least provide a wonderful, though messy fruit bounty. Mpls has declared war on them so I have lost all my local park supply. Sanz mulberry wine.

you will spend the rest of your life trying to get rid of them. grow up through all your pines, lilacs and every flower bed or garden you or your neighbors have. I would plant poison ivy instead it's easier to kill Mike

I have one mulberry tree in my yard. No others except for neighboring property. I have been waiting to see a sprout that I can dig up and replant on my hunting property and havent seen any yet. Not saying anyone is wrong but others seem like you cant kill em and I cant find an extra one? My soil? I know the deer love them. I never thought about cutting branches off and planting. Gonna look into that.

People on here like to complain about farmers dozing out fence lines…….there’d be a lot less fence lines getting removed if it weren’t for mulberries. Birds, deer, coon, ect all love them. The problem is, they all don’t use a restroom and flush when they take a dump…..

Planting a mulberry is no different than planting a Russian thistle or Palmer amaranth and should be treated accordingly. Threads like this blow my mind
