When I was looking.

If you find one that has the data please share. I started with U Maine in Orono Maine because they test the soils for all the farmers, that’s who I use.

Soil samples are typically analyzed for whatever parameters are requested. If the sampler didn't request heavy metals the samples won't be run for it.

30 years ago street light on the corner was covered in bugs and several bats all summer long. gone now. cant remember the last time i heard a whiporwill night fishing. bugs are not thick here. i suspect farming chemicals. ag lobby is pretty powerful. mention chemicals may be a problem and they throw a fit.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

They've been and are doing soil samples for chemicals.

I'm sure if they found chemicals in it, they'd sound the alarm.

re: whip-poor-wills...

one of the best summer sounds that I DEEPLY miss from my youth!

funny thing though...during that same time-frame, the city government sent the "foggers" through the suburban neighborhoods to kill mosquitoes, etc. I was very young, but I'm pretty sure they used DDT. I remember the fog being a brownish yellow color.

incidentally, I'm NOT blaming DDT for the lack of whip-poor-wills! there's a lot of evidence that questions most of the so-called "studies" that purported to "prove" egg shell thinning, etc.

also, what a lot of folks fail to take into consideration is that the habitat doesn't stay the same over thirty or forty years. subtle (and NOT so subtle) changes in vegetation type, size, etc. etc. can and DOES affect the type and number of species utilizing that habitat. not surprising at all.

Deicing chemicals for the roads are also a culprit in the equation

Here's govt for ya..........

Every year it seems to snow during rat/mink season and sure enough, the township pushes the ramp open but stops short of pushing it into the water and I have to shovel a spot to get the boat in.. I caught up to the one day and asked them about this and they said the state doesn't allow them to push it in the river.

I said, but its 5' downhill and when it melts its in there anyhow!

Harrisburg loads their snow onto dump trucks and piles it on City Island, again not able to put it in the river but they pile it feet from it on an island, lol.
