Seems there was another guy that eluded the Mounties for years that eventually got caught up to. He had ambushed and killed a German trapper if I recall correctly. Was a paranoid schizophrenic.

I believe the movie "Death Hunt" with Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin was loosely based on this fine fellow.

Looks like a real winner

Was accused of messing with someone's trapline which brought the Mounties in. After a big shoot out they used dynamite to blow his cabin up and he still got away. Little known about him except when he came into Canada he had a good amount of money was a loner and had an accent which was thought to be Nordic. Exhumed his grave and got DNA but still have yet to have found a match. Gold work in his teeth was to be of the best in nature and came from a big City like Chicago or New York which made him suspect of being from a mob and on the run. Many claim to be his kin or new of him but nothing panned out. One thing for sure he was one tough SOB to stay alive and cross the Canadian Rockies with the Mounties on his tail chasing him with dog sleds, native trackers and a biplane in the air during the dead of winter, sub zero, no sleeping bag 2 guns and a small pack. In the end the long arm of the law, in this case the Mounties got their man.

I fail to see much similarity between mad trapper and Claude Dallas.
