I’ve lived here 44 years I think I would know what I’m talking about. It’s not a hunter trapper friendly state. Follow what the state has tried to do to our kids shooting sports. It has been a fight for the last few years to still have our kids able to shoot or hunt. This state is bad. I’m looking for a way out.

Good for you Bruce! 61 Maine winters sometimes make me feel as though I've been shot sideways out of a cannon with a double charge. Me and Ibuprophen are currently having a torrid love affair.

Just got back from 5 days around Tucson, my first time ever in AZ. Interesting area to visit, hard to imagine living there but definitely a neat area. Found out that cactus spikes like to get in the foam bottoms of kids shoes a lot when hiking off trail in the desert! Happy trapping! ScottW

Round about Febuary, March I think about having a place where it's warm to run off to and come back in April or so. I think of Arkansas or somewhere like that. I like the west better but the illegals in the southwest is something makes me hesitate. How bad is it down in Arizona?

Don't remember seeing any as a kid living there.

There are lots of Mexicans, most are very hard working and don’t like illegals.
If you live on a farm by the border, you will sometimes see them sneaking across. Most are harmless.

Security has increased.
Az does not require a concealed carry permit, making people less aggressive in my opinion.

If it were me I'd be looking at southeast Utah. Still not far from Az or NM and lots of opportunities for a resident to the north. Also not left leaning. Just my take on things. To each his own.

How is SE Utah too much snow? You will still be a non res in Az. Might as well try a more trapper friendly state, like Utah.
Im scouting out some Utah country next month for some 2026 cat trapping. I am absolutely sure Ill be getting 1000 dollar cats!-
