The discomfort lasted longer than I thought it would just a tightness that was persistent for several years but it’s not any issue lately.

I hade two done at same time in 2012. Do everything the DR says. A few weeks and take it slow. Only walking around the house and no lifting of anything.
I watched lots of movies and trapping vids then
Take a STOOL SOFTENER too! For sure on the stool softeners the first few days.

I have had two, first one the old fashioned way. Slice open stitch a screen in close up. Second one was three small holes done robotically. First one I was in great shape running marathons, dating wild chicks. Second one married and a few pounds overweight. First one I was up and around in a little less than a week, bored out of my mind. Doctor gave me some good meds told me have a few drinks with them. I was up on the roof cleaning gutters and painting in a week. Got a refill but never took them. Second one I got Tylenol but only took them for 1 day. I figure it’s better to hurt than take something and not know I’m messing things up. I was up and around in maybe 3 days pretty much back to normal. Both of them I took a week off of work. I hauled trash so fairly physical job. Once in a while I still notice there is something different but not bad. Way better than what I felt like before the surgery’s
wws Lots of older fellas here so I thought I would ask. Looking at have an abdominal hernia repaired pretty soon. Worried about recovery time as I have a lot coming up this fall. Anything to look out for ? I also had the robotics surgery back over the Easter brake pretty much back to normal, I have some tenderness now and then but I have followed doctors orders and taken it easy as I definitely don’t want to go through this again The first few day were (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) with me not getting up except to use the toilet and the first few day just getting up was an exercise in pain management, after the first day I slept on the sofa propped up so getting up for the can was easier the next week was painful but I dropped the pain meds and just muscled through it I was back to work after the second week but that’s just sitting behind the wheel and driving, getting up and down from behind the wheel was uncomfortable but that slowly changed day by day Do it worry about the other stuff afterwards having a hernia is like having a tumor the sooner you take care of it the better waiting only makes it worse and worse, it is a slow Motion killer

I heard about the robotic surgery and wanted to do it that way. I heard that was less invasive. But, I would have been put on a waiting list which they said would be about 2 months down the road. I could get into standard mesh procedure within a week. So, I opted for that.

LOL The first pee was a killer but you don’t get released until you get it done.

If there was a way to not get it done I would have tried that before getting surgery but it was time to get it done so I did it.

Asked my doctor if I could go fishing he said as long as I didn’t catch a fish over 10 pounds lol

I had the 3 hole procedure done a couple of years ago, when I left the hospital I felt like I could do anything but I didnt.I followed the docs orders and healed just fine with no pain.I had either a 21/2" or 31/2" tear in my abdominal wall,I don't remember which.

What type of procedure is it? If a mesh is used, some people have a harder recovery or complications may arise, so it would be a good idea to inform yourself about the risks. If you have any concerns after the surgery, you can consult a specialist here who handles such cases.

I didn't have any pain after surgery just a little soreness. I walked out of the hospital 6 hours after I went in for the repair. Everybody is different.
