I’ve been getting notices that Windows 10 will no longer be supported by Microsoft I’m getting an offer to download Windows 11 but I don’t click on anything unless I’m 100% sure it’s not a scam. Talked to my PC guy yesterday and went over some things with him before I did anything with my limited computer knowledge.
He said if my PC was not over 5 years old the upgrade was free and I should get it the next chance I get.
That’s what I got out of it but like I said I don’t know much technical stuff but this guy does it for a living so I do what he says to do. It sounds like Windows 10 goes until Oct then 11 should be installed by then or sooner to keep you PC current.
Just an FYI

We switched over at work last year. I don’t like it, some stuff is hidden and hard to find. Gotta learn some stuff over again. I wouldn’t click on any links. Go directly to Microsoft to get it.

Why multiple times Bruce? I got a new business only computer in Dec. and have not put anything on it yet… Except estimation software.
Edge would not let me so I kept trying diffrent things downloading the web browsers.Keeps saying you have to shut off safemode but edge will not let you shut safemode down.

it does warn you like 20 times , suggest against it and make it a bit of a pain for about 5-7 minutes
but it very much can be done.
Many Many PCs sold in stores come with WIN11 home running in S mode , then you can not download anything not from the windows app store meaning no chrome. so you have to boot out of S mode it took me a while to figure out what I was looking at with so much stuff missing , disabled , settings just not even there , then I saw S mode for the first time , a customer had a laptop from walmart that they wanted to make work with out equipment.

I went through the same thing when I got this laptop with Windows 11.

I'm still running Windows 7 Pro. I've got good anti-virus software and I don't have any problem. My daughter got me a manufactured PC with Windows 10 but it's been sitting in the box unopened for months. I don't like changing if I don't have to I guess.

Looked for the free download it’s very confusing many offers say free version then it show fees even Microsoft takes you from the free offer to $99 fee I hate this PC stuff. LOL Other PC related sites what to charge you a fee to download the free version but I don’t trust them with my info so I’ll just wait I’m in no hurry.
Like others I hate change on these PCs these updates cause me more grief than anything by changing things I will need to haphazard figure out down the road.

they keep burying things in less and less intuitive menus I wonder if they get a case of beer and sit around thinking up technically accurate but completely non descript names for everything on Fridays
