...'Til turkey season!!!! Had this flock of toms out at my turkey hotspot today. There were a dozen or more other ones that you can't see in the photo. (the quality is bad because it was shot with a phone at long range I edited it a little to make the turkeys stand out more.)

Yep same here. I drew time period D which is May 7th through May 13th, but there's a youth hunt April 12th and 13th.

How do you choose which turkey to shoot?

If I came up to a flock like that I’d wish I was carrying a shotgun. Within a minute I could have dinner for a week!

Good question! I've shot a few turkeys before, and I never really cared which one I got, as long as it was legal. Then last spring I shot a big tom (big to me anyway ) and that got me into trying to get an even bigger one. I guess I'll just scout a bunch before the season and try to pick one out that I like, and then see where he roosts, and then on opening morning I'll try to call him from his roost. I don't really know very much about turkey hunting but for the guys that do, does that sound like a good game plan?

I like to set up near where they fly down. Much easier to kill if you set up in the area where they are going instead of trying to call them where you are. Just my 2 cents . Eric
