3 sticks and duct tape - carry tape with you and find sticks - if you cant afford tape use old bale bind twine - never have wanted a camera to rotate but if you did reach down and move tripod

Pretty country and nice cats.

I would use your best tripod design and either a cable stake in the middle or a big rock to cinch it down to. That would get you a lot of stability and you can use a new fangled mount at the top without any interference.

I’m all DIY but when I see a dozen or so a month used collapsible camera tripods for $5. or less at local r
Thrift stores my time is worth that. But interested in others efforts.

Typical easterner! If he looked at those pictures, he'd see solid rock! Thats why very few guys drive stakes.

Tracy, do you actually have a design, or are you trying to trick others into coming up with one for you? LOL

I use these a lot, just a scrap of steel with a 1/4-20 bolt welded on it at a slight angle. Can point upwards or down, the bolt tightens it up on the screw. Pretty adjustable set on rocks, downed tree ext. you could drill holes in the corners and wire it into a tree. Stack rocks to hide and stabilize. Pretty easy cheap setup.

…. You won’t need any tryclopses or what have you then

I designed and built one I think is pretty good and meets the above criteria. I will post pictures at the end of the week. The challenge is to see if the Tman crowd can build one as good or better/cheaper. Must provide detailed plans and/or picture of the finished product. Get to work!!

how high off the ground do you need the camera?

my cheapest design is a 5 gallon pail that gets you 15 inches off the ground stick a length of scrap 2x2 in it and fill with rocks , dirt and gravel, whatever is loose and near by

use the wood screw to machine screw hanger bolt to mount the camera

https://www.amazon.com/Yoliko-Hanger-Self-Tapping-Furniture-Threaded/dp/B0BRSK9KRG/

a little bulky but not heavy

my other idea is less bulky a wood block with some holes drilled in it at 45* angles in 3 directions some 1/2 inch light weight conduit
run a screw with a dulled tip into each hole from the side
insert your conduit and give the screw a turn or 2

a long 1/4-20 i bolt or peice of threaded rod up through the middle and hang a sand bag you fill on site from that

My granddaughter came up with a good one, she showed me a expandable plastic I guess stick with a swivel head for taking self portrait pictures with her cell phone.
