Alls I got are some nice coastal cats put up for taxidermy, but the prices I got at the inter mountain sale I’ll just get them tanned 😂

and then what? tanned cats are even harder to sell. pay 35 dollars to tan them and then you get zero dollars for hanging them on the wall.

Tanned cats with feet are easy to sell, in the right market. And his cats will be reasonably priced when you consider what the market is for “the best cats”.

If he has 21 or more cats, dressing at moyles is only $26.50.

I agree with Bob. Seems like you tan a bobcat and cuts value in half. Tanned bobcats sell so cheap at sales. We looked at a wide bellied tanned cat at the March sale that Furbuyer said was a $1400 cat raw and it couldn’t get $400 bid.

If Jakeland can turn ugly red-back coastal cats into $275 by tanning them he's ahead of the game.

I sent mine off to FurHarvesters last week with the hope they grade as westerns and make me rich! LOL

Problem with selling tanned bobcats is that some of you are dressing the wrong cats!!

You don’t dress the pale cats with nice white spotted bellies. The ones that are worth big money raw. Sure they are pretty but no one is going to pay that much money for you to come out.

You dress the cats that have reddish brown backs and the ones that have narrow casty bellies. The cats that sell for $120.00 to $160.00 raw. They look fine when dressed - especially to the general public. They can’t tell the difference in quality. All they see is the difference in price. $275.00 v $1600.00. Which would you choose???

Some non trapping folks actually like the reddish cats. To them, a bobcat is a bobcat is a bobcat.

If you are going to dress pelts to sell to ordinary folks, you gotta rethink your game plan!!

The expensive cats are most likely going to Greece for dressing, then on to manufacture. Most furriers want their pelts dressed a certain way and Greece provides that service.

Any bobcat (also Lynx and river otter ), whether tanned or raw, must have a CITES tag to leave the USA. In most states, tanned pelts do not need CITES tags but if your tanned pelt has a CITES tag probably wouldn’t hurt to leave the tag on the pelt.
