A first at the Wisconsin Woman's Trap Camp this year; 11 year old student was surprised to find she trapped a Wisconsin Gray Wolf in a canine set. The male wolf was collared and released unharmed by USDA Wildlife Services and WDNR personnel. Way to go and a great experience for all those attending the woman's trapping camp.

Thanks Christine for bringing this to my attention.

Thanks Scott for sharing. I think the trap / set was only a day or two old.

Forever in debt to my Father who introduced me to trapping.
May I be half the man he was.

What a terrific experience for them. I've heard idiots say we should kill all the wolves, but I bet those folks in attendance there would not agree. That is a feeling few trappers will ever experience.

It would be nice to send them back where we got them from. Being in Iowa, you don't deal with the impact of the wolf like we do...

Go Barnstormers!

Awesome! Wonder how the wolf feels? Got schooled by an 11yr old with a pink trap. Now he’s got a necklace to always remind him of the day….lol
They’re certainly doing something right at their school!

The only idiots are people that think wolves belong in modern day America. Why not repopulate the country with 30 million bison again? Or clone and release giant short faced bears? T-Rex?

Congrats to the young lady what a rush. Lets not debate wolves on this thread. Being in WI now and being lied to by the wdnr I know where I'd fall.

He won’t have problems. The collars are a great research tool and won’t affect him much. If someone starts complaining about wolf predation, this can verify or eliminate this fella as a suspect.
For the odd one that think wolves don’t belong in North America, all you need is a management plan and trappers to get out there and implement it. I love these things and it’d suck not having them around to trap. So now you’re calling the wolf trappers out there idiots? Who’s the real idiot? If you got wolves eating your precious elk, manage your resources properly. If you got a stupid management plan, do something to help change it.
Stay in the city with your “Modern Day” America.

Wolves plugging up coyote and fox traps are not that enjoyable when Wisconsin trappers must release them all.

Same in MN. The first one is kind of cool, but it gets old real fast.

cool the young lady and trapping class got to experience somthing few have. Myself I'm very glad we don't have wolf's here. It's bad enough having to release bobcats and otter otr deal with turning the otter in that are dead after the quota has been meet.

Shakeyjake, management plan is in place and trappers are ready to go, but liberal judges keep putting them back on the endangered species list. No shortage of desire to harvest them, but legislative roadblocks keep ethical trappers and hunters from harvesting any.

Well of course!
Every trapper knows, pink trap for wolves, blue bucket for cats.
You should try and get out more.

Keep your wolves in Manitoba. You have no idea what we have to deal with here.
