I had left some beaver in this hole to repair the dam. It was just starting to get built back up when someone moved in and made some sets. Hope that after beaver season ends a new family moves in and finishes the dam it makes a great fishing hole.

I like finding other people's sets when out trapping public land. I very rarely come across it, but it's always interesting to see how other people do things.

I stop and check out any sets I come across for the same reason. Seen a couple beaver set ups and an old lynx cubby. An assortment of coyote sets as well.

No but it's definitely taking it's first dip in the water. Nary a spot o rust anywhere.

Get one of those baby life size toddler dolls, cloth it nicely and stick it in there face down. That's always a good April 1st one.

I don't walk near someone else's traps. I always worry if something springs it the trapper will think I did something.

I avoid other people’s gear like the plague once I know where they are. I know I wouldn’t be real enthusiastic if I saw someone hanging around my sets, and he becomes suspect #1 if anything gets tampered with. From that one set, I’m guessing he’s lazy, inexperienced, or both…your beavers are probably safe

It was staked by the chain but I didn't check how deep or anything. Mostly took a photo cause I thought the setup was odd.
