The second bug looks like a female dobsonflie.

Here you go. Jap beetle is 1/2 the size of June bug. As kids we tie a string on their leg and walk around with them flying around on a leash. Cheaper pet than a dog. Lol

But nephew we both are right. You got some brown ones. But that thing in your hand is a night flying hard shell beetle bug. Attracted to lights. Well looks like it. March beetle

Covered with stink bugs these days.

I'd put the j-bugs in Grannies old pill bottles.
A ripe one was on the floor of truck
and cop wanted to see what was in it.

He told me keep those out of sight so
the druggies don't break in. lol

We get em in June too and they are always falling into my koi pond and quickly becoming fishy snacks

Do they eat the stink bugs?
A few years back we had thousands.

I’ve seen them eat stink bugs. Seems like they will “flash” if they eat a crunchy bug cause it gets stuck in the gills.

Some of us joked about tincture of stink
bug being the new secret snake oil.

That looks a lot like what folks here call carpenter bees. they chew a hole into any unpainted wood.

No up here we start spraying with airplanes as to not have them.

As kids we used to go out in the summer time at night and send em to the moon with tennis rackets! Lol the big juicy white grubs you find when your digging up a lawn are the larve stage of a junebug. Up here we got the big brown ones.

Savell, I call them “doodie” bugs cause when they hit your windshield, it looks like a big pile of “doodie” on your windshield! If you have pecan trees, you can go out at night this time of year and they will be all over it,
Cutting the leaves off.back when I was working I would pass by 2 open fields right before sunrise and they would literally cover the windshield. As far as being good for any kind of fish bait, I would feel awfully stupid sitting there with one on my hook, waiting for a bite.

I just know that the northern june bugs really smart when you hit one on your MC at 65 mph and an open faced helmet.

Had a drove of them come to the garage light when I was out there the other night

That Dobsonfly will bite the chit out of you with those pinchers on it's face

June bugs start showing up in northern Maine in middle to late May
