Push the tops together and stick a piece of wire 4 or 5 inches long, through them and give it a couple of twist. A 8' cable is through the spring eyes of the trap. The trap can't come off of the stabilizer. Connect the other end of the cable to a stake, bush, tree, root or something. That's it. Rickey

I built mine out of 7/16” smooth rod. I made them with washers on top so I could clip/tie them together, but over the years I just stopped doing that. I just leave them stick straight up, unattached, and I have never had a trap come off of one. I made a few more a year two ago and did not add anything to the top, just a cut rod end.

I have a story about my deep stands with washers on top. I was catching the beavers for a lady with a pear orchard There were houses around the lake, but it was county jurisdiction. I had a stand with a sauvageau 11x13 located on the shore of a channel with a house right across the channel. Showed up and had a big beaver, but noticed shiny deposits on the washers. I couldn’t figure out what it was, so I went and talked to the customer about and she says “you know, there were a couple of kids over there shooting bb guns yesterday, and it looked like they were shooting across the channel about where your trap was”. So I got to looking, and sure enough, lead deposits in those washers. The washers were big, maybe 2” diameter with a 3/4” hole. The kids had been using them for target practice. At least they didnt steal my trap, and the pellets did not even dent the washers. I just had to laugh, that is something I would have done 40 years ago when I was the kid with the pellet gun.

I had a bunch of scrap/left-over 3/8” hot-roll (smooth) so that’s what I used for my deep H-stabilizers. Worked great straight up and traps & beaver stayed in the stabilizers.
