Off subject but driving down I80 one night in the 80's it was all under construction, (near snowshoe) down to one lane concrete barricades. Bear climbed over the barricades ran out on the road. Truck in front of me hit it. He had hit his brakes but bear was wadded up under the tractor. I walked up and driver asked if I seen that. Didnt know what it was. I told him a bear and it was under his truck. Busted up the grill and radiator, Driver spooked when I said bear. Was worried it was still alive. Big one. 3-400 pounds? More? Had the interstate shut down awhile waiting on a tow truck. No cell phones. Got somebody to phone call on CB channel 9. (old emergency channel).

My dad was an ironworker, my mother worked at a sewing factory and had an antique shop. My grandfathers were a coal miner and carpenter.

Up until about 25 years ago, every one horse town here had a sewing factory. My first wife worked in one.
None to be found anymore.

My one Grandfather was killed in a roof collapse in a cool mine in SW PA before I was born and I never got to meet him.

My great grandfather Olof emigrated to America in 1868 and immediately found work as a coal miner near Bloomington Illinois. He was an immigrant strikebreaker, signed up in NY as soon as the ship came in and sent to the mines by train.

He eventually died of black lung disease.

My great grandfather died in a mine cave-in in NEPA. His father worked in the mines and lived to be 102. The snowflakes don't know how great they have it. My grandmother told some horrid stories about growing up near the mines. The mine whistle would blow, and the flatbed train would carry the blanket covered bodies to the person's house. You prayed the train did not stop in your back yard!
