Any information I can get on this would be appreciated age. Value Country

Now I’m not sure on the caliber but it the hole is very large in the muzzle. I’m guessing at least 69 or 70 ball.

Thanks in advance for all your help

It "looks" middle eastern to me.

There's still somewhat of an industry in those places to manufacture them for the tourist trade. They make them and age them to look antique.

That's just a brief summation from looking at a picture. Other than that, who can say for sure.

Does the lock function and spark?

I am not familiar enough with a Flintlock pistol really be messing with it too much. It’s what appears to me to be maybe

Called a striker plate does flip forward, but the hammer is so tight so strong there must be a release

Somewhere and I can’t find it it has been in my possession for about 50 years

Out in the state of guns in the mid 1970s, there were a lot of muzzleloading rifles and shotguns in the estate

Modern guns and some gun company advertising it’s been sitting on the shelf ever since I’ve had it

Eventually, it’s gonna go to my oldest son. He has some interest in it, but he’s seven hours away from here for looking at it.

I just appreciate hearing anything that anybody might have. I can’t see good enough anymore to look for a makers marker whatever they call.

That’s sort of thing I can’t seem to get the ramrod loose that’s mounted under the barrel either so maybe it is a fake that he had but it was made a long time ago

Here’s a couple more pictures of the hammer in the striker plate

I don't see a primer pan or flash hole. As mentioned probably a wall decoration.

The "striker plate" is more properly the frizzen.

That flat frizzen and style of lock looks much like an early Spanish miquelet lock. By chance is the frizzen face vertically grooved? That was also an often seen feature of the miquelet lock.

But as said there has been a regular trade in that style of weapon throughout the middle east from the time when that style of lock was new to the present.

My opinion, it could be anything from an original whatever to modern basement project. Often an ID is as much what it isn't as it is what each part and mark could be. I'd suggest seeking out a specialist. You might check out some of the many black powder forums and sites. There's a ton of them as they range from Civil War reenacting to the various british/napoleonic, target shooting, to the really esoteric stuff. If you ask around I'm sure someone knows someone.

Good catch. Lots of them coming out of India that aren't drilled. Gets around some silly little import rules. Probably also gets around liability should you decide to drill it yourself.

I have seen large numbers of flint lock pistols sell at auction for $5.00 to $20.00 each. I always presumed they were fake, but was never sure. They always look like they were made to be decorative and then were beat up, probably to make them look antique.

There's 8 listings for flint locks on Shopgoodwill.

The primer pan is obvious, the flash hole location is not in the photos.

The angle of the picture does not allow us to see the touch hole.

Does it have a touch hole? Big thing right there as to it's intended use, either decorative or meant to fire. I agree with the middle east orgin probably Turkey or some camel riding region. Their rifles had a weird look to them to

Let's see a picture looking downward toward where the flash hole should be. If there is none, then it is a definitive decorative piece.
