Both I guess. Wasn't it the same fruitcakes driving them that later started burning them?

For the people that think they’ve lost everything and want a chance to make it back you can short the feeder cattle market and maybe the live cattle market as well they maybe breaking.

Post your portfolio balances, gains and losses for 2020 through the present. Post your net worth. Third, despite their cries that critics of the President are just "jealous" (which is the stupidest thing I have read on Tman in a while), the Tman Economic Gurus are jealous of landowners, actual investors and high earners who have material wealth, assets and businesses affected by this nonsense.

Heck, one of the loudest on this thread is a long term unemployed bum who lives off his wife and welfare.

These economic blunders will end badly for this country. Will we recover? Of course. But a lot of wealth is being destroyed and the President is unnecessarily putting our country in great peril.

You are spot-on.

Just doing what I want now.

Market goes up, market goes down. Always has and always will. No reason to panic.

Danny, who's post did you quote? I take it that it was deleted as there's no name?

The stock market and interest rates are a concern to us. However, bigger concerns are the prices of crude oil and natural gas. Crude is at $59. At this price, there will be some reduced production. Producers dislike $60 as much as consumers dislike $90. We all could and should live with crude at $75. Why? Because the energy is that valuable. And, at $75, the petroleum industry is sustainable long term.

You took that quote out of context. The preceding sentences are also important.

P.S. Market futures are plunging. Again.

It just dropped below $60.

The cattle market was/is exorbitantly high.

Most of us can agree something has to be done about the trajectory this country is on. It amazes me that many to most who want change don't realize it's not going to be without pain.

I don't see how a fully retired person doesn't expect to use some of his principle to live every year. If he doesn't he has too much money subject to short term market forces. By short term I talking 5 years.

Between the in inflation of the last few years and the market blips this is a prime example of why a person should save more for retirement and work until at least eligible for Medicare unless they have a rather large nest egg so to speak. It takes a lot of money not too work.

Protectionist tariffs are not going to fix the U.S.A. It is just stupid. Ask Milton Friedman, or Thomas Sowell, or Von Mises. I thought these were your heroes?

Last edited by Dirt; 04/06/25 09:30 PM. Reason: Spelled Sowell, Soul, might be a racist thing LOL

I’m a big Thomas Sowell fan,,,it’s true he’s not a fan of tarrif as most are not

But what he does say,,,

“Poor people,,,regions,,,countries are all poor because they don’t produce enough”

Great book if you’re actually into this,,,,

I'm pretty sure that's fine. Where I said I'm a fan of tariffs. In a free market I for sure wouldn't be but we're not in a free market. Even less free with our trading partners

Milton has said more than once the rules change under a welfare state. There's no denying. We're in a welfare state and that just doesn't mean giving money to poor people.

We have to switch from being a majority consumer Nation and start making more stuff here. We can't just stop consuming without raising manufacturing that will lower GDP. If GDP lowers too much, it's all over with the debt loads we are carrying

That is exactly right. SB Jones. The true wealth of a nation is its natural resources and how they have utilized them

In my opinion, it's the main thing Canada has going for it. Tremendous amount of resources. Limited amount of population

I’m unclear where businesses will find workers of all these factories that are to come back to America. Nearly every company in the area I live in struggles to hire workers now. I can’t see where a sewing factory or one making sneakers is gonna have any luck recruiting help.
