All of this is being spoken by people whose livelihood hasn’t been threatened. Yet. It’s easy to be nonchalant and act like it doesn’t matter until it’s your job.

Vehicle sales have been lagging before the tariffs ever hit. Auto makers are in trouble again, they should let them go broke and start over.

Many of these plants have yearly shut downs that last a month or more. Nephew has been off for several months from a truck plant due to excess inventory.

They’ve been having issues for a while. I bought stock in them a few years ago, still waiting for those $100,000 trucks to produce profits of some sort..

There goes Canada trying to subsidize manufacturing again. That would never happen in the USA. Just ask Lee Iacocca. smile

I am sure that would be very comforting to the 900 families with laid off workers. Global supply chain has ripple effects...pause production in Canada and Mexico has impacts here

Well they can get unemployment, likely will be offered free school and jobs training as well. It won't last long and if nothing else. The new Honda plant being built in Idiana duet to tarrif
s will be needed skilled employees
Beyond that many more business moving production to the US will be creating a lot of jobs.

Do you have any idea of looking forward and a long game?

Here is one example from me personally. Working 80 to 97 hour weeks suck but I. the future I will be debt free

Fast forward a few years I'm debt free and need less money and have more freedom and options. Things cand suck in the short term for long term gain. It's planning and looking ahead.

Maybe they would produce a simple vehicle that will hold up and can be worked on and is affordable. Volume of sales would off set the lower profit per unit.

Been there, lived it. Not the end of the world unless you’re weak and too shorted sighted to plan.

the last lay off we had at my plant was do to competition from other countries. Those laird off got to apply for free school for up to 2 years Drew unemployment during that time and all ending up getting called back.

I was mad I didn't get offered a layoff. since I had over 10 years I was covered by the contract and would have got paid 80% of my pay for the time and gotten free schooling. I was asking for a volunteer layoff but was told I could not have one. My bills were low and I could have benefited form th layoff at the same time younger guys with more bills and younger families that would only get unemployment since thay didn't have 10 years in and couldn't Handel the lay off as well got laid off and those that didn't were being both offered and forced to work 64hrs while we had guys on the street. would have made more since ro cut us back to 32hrs and could have been due to contract language and not lay anyone off. Would have saved the company money on wages and stress on the employees

Funny thing, I live 5 miles from the Honda plant in Alliston Ontario Canada. There is almost daily news out of Honda and building a new plant in Indiana has been denied several times. They are however currently building a battery plant at this location to service the vehicles they produce.

We have been being robbed for decades now 2 weeks is a big problem when unemployment is available. The biggest problem is the ones supporting the theft that’s been going on but it’s a me,me,me world today.

I met a guy last week who started working for the Army Corp of Engineers last October. He said he might be getting "DOGE'd" soon. But, he said he understands the situation since he spends most of the day doing nothing.

I worked in a tire factory and last year they had more shutdowns and short work weeks(which is where you may only work 3 days a week and get paid for 3 days) then in the history of the plant which opened in 1963 so don't think every layoff or shutdown is because of the tariffs even though the media wants you to believe it

Am I the only one who read the part about the stall out being in Mexican and Canadian plants? As far as companies who go out of the US and it didn't work out for them- cry me a river!
