I've got a surplus of 1.75 coilsprings, and I was wondering if I could use them for muskrat and mink? Mostly pocket sets and maybe a few float sets for muskrats.
Thanks!

They will work just fine. BUT to make It a great muskrat and mink trap you should heat the springs to weaken them. I trap a lot of rats, and I have watched rats sit right on top of 1 1/2 traps and 1.75s and # 2s. But once i weakened the springs my catch went way up.

The 1.75s I've seen are very heavy duty and rats have fine-boned legs. Not so much with a mink. Unless you modify them, it seems to me like hunting deer with a 300 Win Mag and 220 grain bullets. It'll do the job and then some.

I Agee the ones who say go ahead and use them, they won’t catch anything if you don’t set them. I had a few locations where I used weak thin metal #3 victors in the past.

One of the reasons I like the Bridger 1.5 coils. Waxed with no pan notch and slightly rounded jaws make for an excellent rat trap with almost no fur damage.
